Kim Thompson, MS, RD joined Food Directions in 2017 as the Senior Manager of Food Policy. Prior to this role she worked as the Nutrition Coordinator for the WIC Program at Children’s National Health System where she gained valuable nutrition experience providing nutrition education and breastfeeding support to participants and helped analyze and implement federal WIC program policies and regulations.
Thompson is a member of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics and the D.C. Metro Area Dietetic Association (DCMADA). Starting in 2017, Thompson is serving as a Mayoral Appointee and licensed dietitian member on the DC Board of Dietetics and Nutrition. Furthermore, Thompson volunteers with Community Foodworks, a local non-profit that focuses on local food access while creating market opportunities for local farmers and food producers.
Thompson holds a BS in Dietetics and a MS in Nutrition from Texas Tech University. Thompson lives in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, D.C with her husband.
